Abstract

The rapid changes in the business environment due to globalization, the advancement of digital technology, and socio-economic dynamics have encouraged organizations to adapt sustainably. In this context, Human Resource Development (HRD) plays a central role not only as an administrative manager, but as a strategic agent who leads organizational transformation. This study aims to analyze the new role of HRD as an internal practitioner who functions as an agent of change in facing the challenges of the VUCA era and digital transformation. This study uses a qualitative approach based on literature studies by examining various theories and the latest research results regarding the strategic role of HRD, change leadership, and the implementation of Green Human Resource Management (GHRM). The results of the analysis show that HRD has a significant contribution in building the organization's dynamic capabilities through competency development, the application of workforce analytics, and the formation of an adaptive and sustainable work culture. In addition, HRD also plays a role as a driver of green innovation and a keeper of the balance between digital efficiency and human values. With strategic, analytical, and transformational leadership skills, today's HRD is required to be an orchestrator of human value who is able to integrate technology, people, and organizational culture to create a sustainable competitive advantage in the industrial era 5.0
