Abstract

This article explores the philosophical meaning of the rangkiang in the lives of the Kuok Malay community as a foundation for locally-based reflective teaching. In the Kuok Lontiok House, the rangkiang is not just a place to store rice, but also represents values like hard work, trustworthiness, responsibility, frugality, patience, sustainability, and readiness for the future. The study uses a conceptual-qualitative approach through early field data reflection and a literature review on reflective teaching, local culture-based education, and Tenas Effendy's Tunjuk Ajar Melayu. The findings show that the rangkiang symbolizes the reflection of the Kuok Malay people's life, connecting past experiences, present responsibilities, and future readiness, making it relevant as a basis for reflective learning rooted in Malay culture
